Here is a cutting I took from a neighbor's fence yesterday. It appears to be some knd of fig, allthough that's just a guess. I'm going to do some snooping online and probably post a "Pland ID Needed Please" on
GardenWeb in either the Flodida forum or the vine forum. I hope it survives. I think I'll cut off the fruit so the plant puts its energy into making roots instead of a big fruit.

Did you find out if it's a fig? I do think that it is.
ReplyDeleteSomeone at our workplace gave my husband a fresh fig to eat, and it looked exactly like this. Unfortunately my husband was either allergic to the fresh figs or something on it because he had a pretty good allergic reaction with his face swelling up. He's eaten foods with dried figs so I'm hoping that it was maybe a spray (pesticide?) on the fig that cause the reaction.
Did you try tasting it or did you ask your neighbor?
Interesting! It certainly looks like a fig on the inside, doesn't it? Do they grow on vines as well as trees? I need to remember to do a follow-up visit so I can know what you've found out.
ReplyDeleteVisiting for Green Thumb Sunday.
My vote is on fig as well, but I am unsure. Keeping my fingers crossed for you that it takes.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my site yesterday.
