The sunflower has bloomed! I don't know why it bloomed so early though. The seeds are both from a sunflower my Dad grew last year, so you'd think all the plants would be the same height and would bloom at the same time. I guess not. You can see the basil in the strawberry pot by the front door. It's doing very good. It requires water every two days which is not allowed under the current water restrictions, but I sneak it water whenever it looks droopy. All the other plants you see have been getting watered three times per week. They have been doing great in my opinion. We'll see how they look in another month after having only two drinks per week. I bet the New
Guinea impatiens next to the basil will be the first to go.

Keeping my fingers crossed that you get some rain as everything looks lovely at the moment. Are you sure that's a real sunflower and not a spy in diguise making sure you're not using your hose!...LOL
ReplyDeleteI never had any luck with impatiens but it's such a pretty flower that I always have to try ;~)
ReplyDeleteHurrah for your sunflower! It's gorgeous!
Have a great day and hope you get rain real soon!
Your display looks really pretty! *LOVE* the palm! If you keep them mulched really well, perhaps they'll still do well, even with reduced waterings! Best of luck with this, again, it's really pretty! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm behind! I haven't even planted any sunflower seeds yet, but even if I had they'd only be small small plants right now.
ReplyDeleteLove the bloom. I don't know if thats the kind with multiple flower heads, but if it isn't you might enjoy planting a few of those because they develop new heads over time and end up just full of blooms. :)
Visiting for Green Thumb.
I love seeing your sunflower. Sunflowers always look so happy.
ReplyDeleteI had them in my wedding bouquet.
Alas I can't grow sunflowers because my dogs eat them--Don't ask.
Did you folow up the drought buster? As this would be perfect for your plants in pots.
ReplyDeleteCheers Mark
Wow you're so lucky to live in your climate your plants look like they are so much farther along.
ReplyDeleteAll of the plants look great! We haven't been having any rain here in Kentucky either. If we had watering restrictions, my garden would wither away. I'm watering something every single day!
ReplyDeleteHappy GTS!
Oh isn't that great!
ReplyDeleteYour garden in front of it is really balanced. It all looks really nice.
mine is up
Great photo of your garden - and great blog! I hope they turn off the water restrictions soon! I don't know why I'd do if I had to let my yard die!
ReplyDeleteThere was a really nice sunflower growing beside the fountain at my son's school. Somebody stole the bloom during the last week of school. It looks as if taking of the lead flower head causes the secondary ones to thrive more. Does anybody know about this
