Florida Land Crabs' Migration

Well, for the past few days, each morning we've had to scoop land crabs out of the pool. I guess their migration habits have been disrupted lately because of the strange weather we've had. After a severe 2-month drought, we were deluged with rain last Friday. Now, the land crabs are appartently on the move. Here's the article from the local paper.

Awww, poor crabs! And, can I have your pool? That looks so relaxing right now!

Congratulations on the school and honeymoon!

Oh my goodness; we don't have that to contend with over here. I do feel sorry for the crabs but don't blame them for heading for your pool...I would! Hope the studies etc are going ok.

Maybe its more becuase of mans desire to take over land that was once the domain of the crab, not the weather. I dont know just a thought

Do you know how to get rid of Land Crabs from my garden? They burrow under my flowers and are killing them. you can email me at: dhardy@aquatic-tech.net. Thank you.

I'm also wondering how to keep the land crabs out of my garden. I'm thinking of digging in a short fence of something they can't crawl up (metal or plastic ). They will still be able to dig in but can't wander in. Do you have any other ideas? aloebee@hotmail.com

Little critters have just started appearing in my pool in Wilton Manors. Scared the bejeezus out me when I went to step in the water.
