Nearly 4 months of occasional attention and I have successfully propagated two little orgeno plants! (this photo also shows two pea plants)

All my oregano originally came from a March '07 plant, but this is the first time I documented the process. Here we go...

First, I took a bunch of cuttings from my own yard to see what I could easily propagate. Shown above are croton, copper leaf, song of india, dracaena, oregano. All were successful except for the copper leaf and song of india (but I haven't given up on them yet).

Next, I let the cuttings sit in water for a couple weeks on the porch. Then, I planted them, and waited. Now, they are thriving!
Fabulous work of a true gardener!!!
ReplyDeleteMy Green Thumb is shared - hope you can stop by for a visit. I love Sunday company!!!
Do you use the oregano in sauces? I had some in a mix in my AeroGarden, but most of it went unused. I'm not much of a cook. Happy GTS,

I didn't know oregano could be grown from cuttings. I love oregano! I'm growing sweet marjoram from seed, which has a very similar flavor.
ReplyDeleteHello there! I just got myself an Oregano. I was told to just plant it in soil, but I'll try your cuttings in water method next time.
ReplyDeleteI've never tried propagating dracaenas in water but will give it a try now. I accidently discovered that they will grow roots if stuck in fairly moist soil. Takes about 3-4 weeks and I now use rooting medium. It's kinda addictive, I can't stop taking cuttings to root them!
