A neighbor gave me a cutting from his plumeria tree about two months ago. This twiggy, Dr. Seuss-looking tree is also called Frangipani and produces tropical flowers which Hawaiins use for lays.
I'm worried about getting myself in trouble by planting all these trees lately......
plumeria
orchid tree
royal poinciana tree
peach tree
avodaco tree
......I don't have the yard space for all this stuff.

Danielle, it depends how big your backyard is! Plumeria will be ok, it is slow growing and open. Orchid tree, is this a Bauhinia? If yes, they grow qickly and tall.Royal Poinciana can grow squat and very broad or also very tall they need room. Peach tree is ok. Avocado tree grows tall. Some trees are just not suited for a smallish backyard. Have you tried Wattles Australian Acacias, some are small and glorious when in flower and have also attractive leaves. Cassia fistula is a lovely tree not too tall with pendulous flowers like a Laburnum.
ReplyDeleteI have a plumeria that is shriveling and I just repotted it to see if that would help. Do you think I have lost it?
ReplyDeleteI don't know about your exact situation, but I can say this: you could take a plumeria cutting and throw it in a garbage pile for months before planting it. They like to get dried out.
ReplyDeletePlumeria are a beautiful plant. They are very hardy and can take a good bit of abuse. As long as the stalk is not soft it will grow. Just dont give it too much water. Plumeria care, Plumeria information
