Espalier Confederate Jasmine

Here's an update on the espaliered confederate jasmine. I recently laid two rows of pavers at the base. I also recently trimmed 4 feet off the top. I like the bushy part at the base, so I'm keeping it for now. Here's an old post with a How To.

  3. Hey Danielle, i have been wanting to do this espalier on a wall of my house, but since its its on the north side i'm not sure the conf. jasmine will get much sun. How is yours doing? is it still up? my sis said she once tried to do this on a wall and the conf. jasmine never quite filled in the wire. hmm she made me think twice, but even so I would love to try it. i would love to see if yours is still doing well on the column.

  4. Hi Paulina. The jasmine are doing soooo good. They are in full bloom right now. It should do fine facing north. You may have fewer blooms, but because you have to trim the plant so frequently to train it, you are already limiting the number of blooms by pruning. Before you put holes in the wall, put the plant *in its nursery pot* against the wall. See how it does. If it thrives in the pot, it will thrive in the ground (probably). Good luck.
