After planting the tomato, I planted a row of green garlic chives (Allium T berosum) just to the left.

Tomatoes and Onion Planted in February
I planted this large celebrity tomato along the fence, gave t a drip irrigation head, and a dousing of tomato fertilizer. Also, to make it easier on myself, I cut off the bottom 1 inch of its pot and just planted the whole thing. Even with my recent soil amendments, I'm still unsure of why I cant get tomatoes. We'll see if this helps.

Good luck! Except for the cherry tomatoes it is difficult to grow tomatoes where I live, wet side of the Big Island (Keaau) because of pests and often too much water.
ReplyDeleteWe've always grown ours in containers and they've done excellent.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with yours!
I've never been able to get anything but the cherry types to fruit here in Florida. Large-fruited tomatoes stop setting fruit when the temparatures reach a certain level during the summer. They won't start setting again until it cools off in the fall.
ReplyDeleteThat's why so many people here just plant them in the fall.
I gave up on the big ones years ago. Sweet 100 has given me bumper crops.
