Mystery Plant #2
I thought I had this mystery plant figured out....but I didn't. Please help if you know what the dark green plant is called. By the way, this is another installment of my quest to document every plant in the garden.

yup, it looks like a dracaena. You can get smaller specimens of that kind as a houseplant, and I have seen some larger ones like yours down south. I can't remember the cultivar though. Maybe try dave's garden?
ReplyDeleteMy parents have one of those. I think mom always called it the rubber tree? I'll try to find out more. My parents are pretty brilliant at stuff like that.
ReplyDeleteI believe it is Dracaena 'Janet Craig compacta'. It's often grown as a houseplant because it tolerates low light levels very well. If you don't like the leggy look, you could cut the tops off with a little bit of bare stem, stick them in potting soil, and keep moist until rooted. The bare stalks that remain in the ground will leaf out again just below where you cut them back.
